Linking Curriculum Learning to Careers (Gatsby Benchmark 4)
Our PSHE scheme of learning supports every child having at least one careers PSHE lesson per half term (two per half term in Years 10 and 11).
We use the jigsaw programme to enable us to deliver our Personal, Social and Health Education. A large strand of that programme focuses on ‘Dreams and Goals’. Through these timetabled sessions, every child is educated on necessary topics for their next steps.
All students are informed of relevant career links in each of their subjects at appropriate moments within the learning.
Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subject teachers highlight the relevance of STEM subjects for a wide range of future career paths.
All subject teachers emphasise the importance of succeeding in English and Maths.
Your subject areas all have noticeboards with information telling you about careers in that subject – for example, what successful mathematicians have done and how they have made Maths their job.
